Creating background ambient sounds without specific visual focus was a definite challenge throughout the entire project. Especially here in this clip as they are essential to representing the sound of nature. We created the distant wind sound by having the entire string section bowing across the bridge of their instruments. The rain was made by the the wind players clicking their sound their key mechanism and the strings tapping col legno with the back of their bow. To differentiate between the jogger and his dog panting, we had him running in 8 while his dog breathes in 6. A 3 over 4 polyrhythm. Maybe it’s always like this ????
